Making soundscapes a tourism resource
Landscape maintenance and sign maintenance utilizing sequence research
The purpose of this research is to clarify the nature and attractiveness of soundscapes in “KAIWAI” space, and to examine the possibility of sustainable tourism resource utilization. In this research, we conducted space composition surveys and sound collection surveys by changing the conditions such as space with different characteristics and season, weather, and time. We conducted a total of 42 surveys, 14 in 2016, 11 in 2017, 2 in 2018, and 15 in 2019.
From the results of the survey, it was possible to confirm the importance of the sound element as an element that constitutes "KAIWAI". It was also confirmed that the soundscape composed of these sound elements could be an attractive tourist resource.Based on the results of the surveys conducted so far, we decided to focus on the surveys in the shrine space and its "KAIWAI" space, which are considered to have a high possibility of becoming tourism resources, as an attractive soundscape.
As a result of conducting a sound collection survey and analysis of 10 shrines, we were able to clarify the landscape and soundscape as elements that create the attractiveness of the space. By continuing to research soundscapes, we were able to find the possibility of turning them into tourism resources.
This research proposes that we aimed to optimize the information provision sequence by signing, by investigating and analyzing the existing guidance signs in the surrounding space including the terminal station, which is a traffic node, and the station square.
As a method used to extract the existing sign data from the viewpoint of the spatial user, we compared the method using virtual 3D space video with the extracted data of the CONTINUOUS RECORD notation, and confirmed that the notation extraction was effective.
As a survey of the real space, we conducted a survey of 17 stations in Japan that have connections with trams, which are the transportation nodes.
We analyzed the installation situation of the sequence spatial change and the existing signs in detail about JR Okayama station, JR Hiroshima station and JR Kagoshima Central Station. And we could make the installation space of the signs and the problem of posting information clear as well as propose solution method of a problem.
