| The number
of human activities is many and varied, including manufacturing,
informatics, commerce and others. Machinery and machine systems
are tied to all these areas of human activity. They are the basis
of our civilization | allowing people to work safely and securely.
In our mechanical engineering department, with the three pillars
of machine systems, automobile systems and robotics as our core,
we seek people who are willing to grapple with the main issues in
these areas. On our Machine Systems course we have set out a broad
curriculum, aiming to educate technologists in the use of current
techniques. On our Automobile Systems course we allow students the
opportunity to gain national certification as 2nd Class Automobile
Mechanics, through a grounding in mechanical engineering along with
studies in automobile engineering, maintenance, internal combustion
and oscillator engineering. We also aim to produce technologists
who will work towards the development of new kinds of environmentally
friendly, safe, efficient, non-polluting, economical engines. On
our robotics design course we aim to produce technologists with
problem-solving skills who can work independently on planning and
design using a variety of hardware and software, and who can organically
combine ideas from mechanics, electrics and electronics in a mechanical
engineering program based around mechatronics. |
