Since Fukui University of Technology first opened its doors in 1965, we have striven to
develop specialist fields of engineering, while also dealing with scientific techniques and
their connection to culture and society. We continue to do this in order to produce
technicians who have mastered a rich variety of disciplines. It is said that in the 21st
century, information and skills are more important than ever in our knowledge-based society.
However when we think about global scale environmental problems and issues related to
energy and resources, we realize that we, a country proud of its technical innovations,
must work together with all the nations of the world. In order to achieve this it is vital that
we cultivate talent that can contribute skills of value and can support a sustainable society.
In response to these kinds of societal changes, and in order to nurture technicians who can
work creatively and independently, we at Fukui University of Technology wish to promote
the high-level education of people who possess the traits of gcreativity, humanity and
cooperationh. Holding this idea as their motto, all the members of our skilled team of
richly-experienced teaching staff respond at their optimum to each individual studentfs capabilities,
personality and interests. In planning a full program of postgraduate courses, we endeavor to
nurture highly qualified technicians who will gain specialist knowledge and research skills and
who will be able to apply their skills over a wide range of disciplines.
Moreover, as an university of engineering located in Fukui, we seek to work in cooperation
with local industry and local government. We also wish to work in cooperation with local
elementary schools, junior high schools and senior high schools, and members of the local
community, to encourage the spread of learning. We seek to bring industry, government
and university together in order to actively promote joint research aimed at contributing
to local society. |
