Main research themes and their characteristics

「Japanese language education」

 I have been engaged in Japanese language education at high schools and junior high schools after graduation from university.
 I had a lot of chances to witness various teaching methods and research presentations by Japanese language teachers and researchers as the chief of Japanese Language Section of Fukui Prefectural High School Educational Research Association for a period of two years.(2018,2019)
 At present, the preparation for the new curriculum, which will be introduced in 2022, is in progress at high schools.
 The following three issues to be solved on Japanese language education at high schools were pointed out by the Central Council of Education report in 2016.
 ① The disadvantages of an over emphasis of reading.
 ② There is not enough focus on students self-expression.
 ③ There needs to be more focus on Speaking,Hearing and Writing skills.
 Especially, many people have the same opinion about the first issue.
 After indications from a Central Council of Education report, the revisions of the high school Japanese language curriculum, the structure of subjects and areas was changed and the unit time for each area was defined in order to improve the quality and capacity of Japanese language education.
 In the subject of Japanese language, we have to perform each content of teaching a certain number of times.
 For instance, it means in the new subject named "GENDAI NO KOKUGO," 20~ 30 units for "Speaking ・Listening," 30~40 units for "Writing," and 10~20 units for "Reading."
 With the introduction of the new curriculum, "Active, interactive and deep learning," which is focused on the activity of students' writing their opinions freely, presenting them logically and communicating with others, is greatly expected to spread with increasing speed.
 It is clear that this learning is inevitable to develop human resources who correspond to the global era.
